Ed Tech

What Is Ed Tech?
Ed Tech (a portmanteau of “education” and “technology”) refers to hardware and software designed to enhance teacher-led learning in classrooms and improve students’ education outcomes.
Ed Tech is still in the early stages of its development, but it shows promise as a method of customizing curriculum for a student’s ability level by introducing and reinforcing new content at a pace the student can handle.

WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (Ed Tech)?
We begin with the definition The concept of Educational Technology is a very interesting one, as its revolves and still revolving. Remembering back then as an undergraduate, what I studied about Educational Technology as a course then is not the same as what it is now. That is why I say that Educational Technology
is revolving with the times. I would like us to define the term “Educational Technology” provided by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (see http://www.aect.org): “the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources” (Januszewski & Molenda, 2008, p. 1)

Ed Tech By David Lee

From the perspective of technology used in education, educational technology could be understood as the use of emerging and existing technologies to improve learning experiences in a variety of instructional settings, such as formal learning, informal learning, non-formal learning, lifelong learning, learning on demand, and just-in-time learning. Educational technology approaches have evolved from early uses of audiovisual aids to individual and networked computers, and now have evolved to include various mobile and smart technologies, as well as virtual and augmented realities, avatar-based immersive environments, cloud computing, and wearable and location-aware devices. RELEVANCE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (ED TECH) TODAY
Educational Technology provides a wide variety of affordance and capabilities that can promote motivation and result in engaging, efficient, and effective learning in classroom and online. It uses tech processes to facilitate transformative learning and increase performance.

The demand for educational technologies has been rising steadily; e-learning is a huge and expanding worldwide industry. Commercial e-learning companies, training departments in large companies and organizations, computer software companies, and educational institutions over the world employ large numbers of specialists in various aspects of educational technology creation (programming, graphic design, instructional design, task analysis, usability engineering, subject matter analysis, editing, etc.).
For example; apps and online platforms break down learning into smaller sections while student responds to stimuli thereby giving an immediate feedback to enable teachers evaluate their learning experience. It is important to note that Ed Tech helps students practice at their own pace and be active participate in their own learning.
